Global Carbon Budget, 2023
Animation showing carbon sources and sink from 1950 through 2022.
The Historical Carbon Budget is published each year by researchers of the Global Carbon Project (GCP). The plot below show the values of fossil fuel and land use change emissions, the land and ocean sinks, and the amount of carbon remaining in the atmosphere. The values do not exactly cancel out because the cement carbination sink is left out and because the estimates have some amount or error.
Animation showing carbon soruces and sink from 1=850 thorugh 2022 with y scale scaling to show details during the earlier years.
