The James Webb Space Telescope's UPS and DTA Deployments
The James Webb Space Telescope has completed two of its last deployment tests at Northrop Grumman in Redondo Beach, CA. Engineers deployed the forward and AFT pallets that hold Webb's sunshield during launch. Engineers then deployed the Webb's central tower, lifting Webb's mirrors and instruments. Webb is now ready for the next phase of tests, deploying the most delicate part of the spacecraft, the sunshield.
